Great time had by our Olympia Competition Winners

It was a great night out for the winners of our hugely popular Olympia competition. Nichola Unsworth from Chatteris took her two eldest children, Samuel and Emily, and her Brother’s fiancée Ellane Farmer down to the world famous equestrian event in London.

Both Nichola and Ellane are dedicated riders, and have competed in dressage and ex-racehorse showing classes. Nichola owns an ex-racehorse now named George – Sentinelese in his previous racing life – and featured in a photo clinic in January’s Your Horse Magazine. The evening featured several highlights, and Nichola and Ellane thoroughly enjoyed the showjumping contest, won by Irishman Dermott Lennon riding Loughview Lou-Lou.

As the proud owner of a 30” miniature Shetland Pony named Tinker, horse crazy Emily was really excited by the Shetland Pony Grand National. It certainly didn’t disappoint! Samuel is a keen sports viewer and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, especially as it was their first trip to London.

The excitement continued as the group began their behind the scenes tour and rubbed shoulders with some famous names. They met Olympia’s leading rider Ben Maher and William Funnell, who gave them the rosettes won earlier in the competition. Another memorable highlight was catching sight of BBC Sport presenter Clare Balding, who was interviewing Nick Skelton. After being wowed by his stunt riding show, the group had their picture taken with one of Lorenzo the Flying Frenchman’s beautiful horses.

Following the enormous success of this competition, we have plans in place for similar competitions over the coming months for equestrian fans, as well as motorcycling and classic cars.
